Food was excellent, wait staff eager and friendly. Food and drinks were great.

I prefer this restaurant very much. It has a very special feeling. The kitcen is wonderful. the service is efficient and the waiters are courteous. The pay is modest. I highly recommend.

Awesome neighborhood bar, restaurant. All kinds and types of people. From NASA, to Google, professionals and local peeps from all the Trades. Frank the bartender can put a smile on anyone's face. Highly recommend stopping in and saying hello.

Welcome back to the 1950s! Amazing place, unchanged by time, with original decor and good food with friendly service. Note that there are two doors, one to the cocktail bar which was loud and dominated by a TV and equally loud barman surrounded by people who looked as if they lived there, and another for the restaurant which was completely empty when I was there but set for full dinner service.

I was visiting Great America and decided on a whim to stop here for a beer and quick dinner. The atmosphere was quaint. Lots of local people. I was obviously and outsider but didn't feel like it. I chit chatted with a couple of people while karaoke was happening. The guy that places the piano and the lady that served us were the owners. I even got a goodbye as I got up to leave with my daughter.

Used to take Grandpa along with a group of his fellow retirees here for lunch, always had great service and good food. Food was nothing super fancy but was made to order and home cooked.

What a great place. A tradition American bar. Excellent service and a great atmosphere. It may look a little dowdy on the outside but inside it is pure gold.

Super chill. Nothing fancy. Not a pick up bar. Food is good. Drinks are stout. Nuff said.

An old, very comfortable place for food and drinks.

Its a dieing restaurant. Vahl died a couple years back at about 99years old.The restaurant doesn't have tge draw it jad back in the day. The prives are rather high. I pain $19.00 for a 5 course meal of liver and onions. One of my favorites and it was delicious.They also have Prime Rib, Lobster, and various pasta and I believe chicken dishes.They also have dessert but I was full.They also have a bar and you can be seated in the bar to eat if you like but I wanted to sit in the dinning room all by myself. So I did.

They treat you like a long lost friend! I knew local's names and everyone that worked there by the end of the afternoon. Loved the live music, even got up and sang a song with the two-person band. Enjoyed the food and drinks as well. Very welcoming. Will return!

It's Vahl's the only other place worth going besides the Mexican food restaurant ... Not so good I'd rather go to the South Bay yacht club and stare out at the bay or driving to town to taco Bell

Great atmosphere, tasty food and drinks, awesome staff

It's like a trip into the past. Full service tablecloth restaurant, multi course dinners, and a bar where everyone knows your name (if you're one of the locals).

They may be good during lunch, but their service is slow and their menu limited at dinner time. Our food took an hour to arrive, and there was only one waitress to serve the whole restaurant.

Really nice place with a comfortable vibe that makes you feel right at home. Frank the bartender was friendly and quick to pour a drink, and the other patrons were mostly regulars, some of whom have been coming here for decades. There are also several big LCDs playing the games. My wife and I had a great time and look forward to visiting again soon.

Food is overpriced for the quality and quantity. Bar is shockingly expensive, and you can only tip with cash.

Frank is a great bartender. Introduces himself, asks my name and did not forget! This place is a throwback to a earlier time. Music played live in the bar. Clientele is older and the atmosphere is casual. Great place to relax! Feels like the sitcom " Cheers". Enjoyed a couple while watching the Giants game.

Great food and people

This place is worth visiting. They have large portions for convenient prices. Always well organized and with awesome mood. I highly recommend this place.

There was a party of 18, we came because it was a Saturday Night, and we thought we could enjoy the ambiance, (which is fun and funcky) expected entertainment, as it was advertised. They decided NOT TO HAVE ANY, as they also had anothrer huge party (that took over). Trouble could have been avoided if more staff had been there to help, AND if the doors to the big group had been closed. It was way too noisy to carry on any kind of conversation. Food was served nearly 90 minutes after ordering. It was ok, but not like if we were special. Sorry Vahl's, most of us will not be back.

The meal was fine, but the ambiance was a bit sad. This is a place stuck in the past for better or worse. You get a strong impression from the decor of what this place once was, but little care has been put into keeping this former gem polished or relevant.

Same old Vahl's. Good eats and wonderful service.

First time there,been wanting to go there for a long time.The place was so cold we could see our breath.They were out of the items we Inquired about.What we did order was nothing that made us want to return.

Had a fantastic experience here with my girlfriend. The food was served quick and the service is just good. Prices are convenient.

Vahl's was told to expect 30-40 people at our lunch and about 100 showed up. They didn't miss a beat and did a fine job. Service was great and the food was perfect. They handled it like they were prepared for it.

I have heard about this restaurant since I was a teenager. Well I finally had the opportunity to try it. The menu was limited I think they had four choices so I ordered the chicken cordon bleu. When it was brought out I was surprised to see it had mushroom gravy on it. I've never heard of it with gravy on it. It was horrible. The gravy seemed from a can as did the mushrooms. It wasn't cooked thoroughly and it looked like the frozen version I had bought before. The reason I think it's frozen is because my bf ordered the same thing and it they were identical. If it were fresh they wouldn't be the same because it's hand made and nothing handmade has a twin. Well in top of that the price was $18.50. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone unless you just want to drink then the bar isn't a bad choice.

Very elegant and welcoming restaurant. They provide big portions and for fair rates. We liked the food very much and the staff members were very welcoming and chatty. I recommend this place.

A 60’s decoration restaurant, a cozy cocktail room, a large dining room, fun to hearing some customers singing 🎤 oldies song. Friendly servers. A nice place to hangout. Bartender is very easy, he made me a drink according to my requested. But Food is not recommended.

A really fun place with great food and friendly people

Went on. Sunday afternoon, bar was open with a piano bar. I would love to go back later in the afternoon for the music.

Great food (had the chili verde special) and super friendly staff.

The bartender was really funny and made our time their much more enjoyable. He made us laugh and gave us the best service we could ask for. Prices were a tad overpriced.

We didn't have food there but the bar is a perfect local escape with small town feel to it.
